Hngwy [Adam Zarecki] is a Glasgow based producer whose work demonstrates a painstaking attention to detail. Uncontent to linger in the realms of disco based house, Adam’s sound has transitioned into forward thinking jungle and IDM; exhibiting his comprehensive knowledge of dance music’s developments and culture.
We visited Adam’s sun kissed studio for a chat about what’s inspired his departure from the world of disco, his early days of clubbing and the breakbeat revival.
Holy Tongue - Emet
Amidah, 12" (2020)
'This came out recently on an off shoot of Trule records and is one of Al Woottons side projects. Lots of dub and post punk influence full of lovely hypnotic rhythms.'
Lazarus - Downwards
Of Paradise, 12" (2020)
'Love the textures created in this record, simple and stripped back but still hard hitting.'
DJ Pelouse - Pana Coton (Tim Karbon Remix)
Pana Coton EP
Disques Pelouse, Digital (2020)
'Not sure how I stumbled across this one but i love the warm pads and vocal chops layering up over the tough percussive lines throughout'
Zenker Brothers - Sphere Force
Ilian Tape, LP (2020)
'Always been a big fan of all things ilian Tape and the Zenker Brothers new album is incredible. Again I love this track for the contrast between the swirling atmospheric pads and textures against the raw and gritty bass that bursts through.'
Identified Patient - Secretary
Dekmantel UFO Series, 12" (2020)
'Identified patient always delivers such a tough sound. He has ramped the tempo in this recent release and is hinting at more of a jungle influence. Plenty of erratic drums anchored around a rumbling low end.'
